For the first issue of Air Afrique Magazine, I wrote an essay on the roots of Martinican dancehall and my personal history with the genre.
An excerpt of “Martinican Dancehall, Twists & Turns”
“Can you feel it coming? Can you feel the bass kicking in?”, these are the opening questions in the hit song “Coup de foudre” by X-Man, a pioneering figure in Martinican dancehall. These two lines hint at what strikes me as essential in dancehall music: the bass. The one that sends into a trance and relieves me from my inhibitions. That versy same bass that makes the partygoers bang against the walls and the ceiling at night. The one that compels the DJ to cut the dancehall session short and play zouk, just to cool a party on the verge of explosion.”

FAT ZINE, Issue 3, 2022
For the third issue of the Fat Zine, I wrote an essay about my evolving relationship with my fat body.
An excerpt of “Forever Fat”
“I’ve released my fear of being fat. I am not scared to be outspoken about it and to say at a diner “Do you have another chair, a stronger one?” instead of being half seated and holding my body in a very uncomfortable way for the whole diner. By doing that, I allowed allies to enter this process and I had the great surprise to hear my friends say “Oh, I prepared this chair for you so you can be comfortable for dinner”. My fatness was not a burden anymore, it was my condition and as I was embracing it my friends were there for me in the process. I am not scared anymore. I am not hiding anymore. When I stopped being scared, I started being free.”

For a special issue of le 1 Hebdo, I was invited, with another member of Collectif Piment, to define four words in the style of our book “Le Dérangeur”.
An excerpt of “Quatres Mots aiguisés”
“« Définir c’est proposer une vision du monde. » Nous l’écrivions dans la préface de notre ouvrage Le Dérangeur : petit lexique en voie de décolonisation, un projet expérimental né d’un besoin urgent de nous saisir de notre condition en la redéfinissant à partir de nos marges. Dans une certaine mesure Globalisto est une invitation similaire : réimaginer le monde à travers des œuvres d’artistes de la diaspora africaine, à la fois mobiles et ancrés sur plusieurs terres. En restant fidèles à notre démarche, nous avons pensé à de nouveaux mots historiques, poétiques, critiques entrant en résonance avec les œuvres de plusieurs artistes participant à cette réflexion transnationale.”

“Les effets de la contamination sont connus, les Martiniquais et les Guadeloupéens sont emprisonnés et condamnés à vivre sur des terres malades, à boire et à manger des produits dont ils savent qu’ils les tueront tôt ou tard. En attendant que les responsables soient reconnus et condamnés, que le principe du pollueur-payeur soit appliqué et que le test visant à connaître le taux de chlordécone dans le sang soit remboursé par la Sécurité sociale, il ne reste plus aux Martiniquais et aux Guadeloupéens qu’à sortir les 140 euros nécessaires pour réaliser ce test dont ils connaissent déjà le résultat.”
